-Those represent the three patriarchs in the Old Testament
Ibrahim, Isaac and Jacob
Those represent the three patriarchs in the Old Testament - Ibrahim, Isaac and Jacob. Currently together in heaven with the saints and are dressed in brown and red color. The three patriarchs are alike in their white hair and in dress. In the background there are four trees with drawings of semi-naked people picking up fruits, these drawings are since the tenth century. These icons represent our fathers Ibrahim, Isaac and Jacob in paradise standing to meet the souls of the Saints upon their arrival at heaven. As we say in the holy liturgy during the Diptych “Graciously, O Lord, repose all their souls in the bosom of our holy fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, sustain them in a green pasture, by the water of rest in the paradise of joy." On the right side of the three Patriarchs, are traces of a person on a horse, the right side of this drawing shows the chest and the back of the horse, the person is hardly clear, however, it seems he is dressed in a military uniform, and on the right side there is someone standing and holding a cross, and on his right is a soldier on a horse. The only thing apparent is that the riders are both dressed in military, they are for sure saints, but we cannot clearly discern their personalities.
