St. Bishoy’s cave The Cave of St. Anba Bishoy is located at the end of the Syriac Church dates back to the end of the second half of the fourth century; here he spent about thirty-five years of his life during which Christ appeared to him on at least three separate occasions. On the roof of the cell, St. Bishoy hung a rope and would tie his hair to it to help him overcome sleep during his nightly prayers. The cave was chosen far away from the monastery and the church to escape the social life and so he could practice a solitary monastic life.
