Be watchful

Be watchful of the ways and the tricks of the enemy. He will suggest to us that we do not need to separate ourselves from places or people that tempt us to sin, because we shall receive a great reward if we can look upon them and still remain sinless. We must not believe these suggestions, but rather do the opposite. Move away from them as quickly as possible.

احترس من طرق وحيل العدو.

سوف يقترح علينا أننا لسنا بحاجة إلى فصل أنفسنا

The worldly spitit and the spirit of the saints

If you don’t take a distance from the worldly spirit, you cannot focus. There can be no devoutness in the soul nor fear of God, piety, peace, serenity or communication with Him. When we say worldly spirit, we don’t simply mean the spirit of laity, but the spirit which is not of the saints. It costs a lot to expel the worldly spirit, to strain yourself, to collect yourself and sort it out. Instead, you let the worldly spirit rule.

God always economizes everything in such a way, that not only do you see the miracle –the intervention of God– but also wonder at it. This is the point. You stay in awe and admiration, because God doesn’t simply do what He does, but does it in an admirable way.

Many people nowadays will find God if they are willing to become humble.

الروح الدنيوية وروح القديسين








إذا لم تبتعد عن الروح الدنيوية ، فلا يمكنك التركيز. لا تقوى في النفس ولا خوف من الله ولا تقوى ولا سلام ولا هدوء ولا تواصل معه.

عندما نقول روحًا دنيوية ، فإننا لا نعني ببساطة روح العلمانيين ، بل الروح الذي ليس من القديسين.

إن طرد الروح الدنيوية ، وتوتر نفسك ، وجمع نفسك وترتيبها يكلف الكثير. بدلا من ذلك ، تترك الروح الدنيوية تحكم. دائمًا ما يحسب الله كل شيء بهذه الطريقة ، بحيث لا ترى فقط المعجزة - تدخل الله - ولكن أيضًا تتساءل عنها. هذا هو المقصد.

Elder Efraim of Arizona. God tries with every means to awaken us.

How precious is the time of this life! Every minute has great worth, for within one minute we can think so many things, either good or evil. One godly thought raises us to heaven, and one diabolical thought lowers us to hell. So then, behold how valuable every minute in this present life is. Unfortunately, though, we do not think about this, and hours, days, and years pass with no profit—but is it merely with no profit? How much damage we have all suffered—and I, first—without realizing it! But some day, when our soul is about to depart from our body, we shall realize it. But, alas, it will be too late; there is no room for correction then.
We must realize this now when we can still make a start. We should take advantage of the precious time of our life. Truly blessed is he who compels himself and makes a start, because some day he will become spiritually rich. It is never too late, for the Lord awaits each one of us to awaken so that He may give us work. He waits until the eleventh hour. 1 He tries with every means to awaken us.
I pray that all of us will awaken, light our lamps, and with a vigilant eye wait patiently for the Lord to come, so that we may enter the resplendent bridal chamber of eternal bliss, the festival of the bright angels, to chant with them the resurrectional canticles, which will elevate us from theoria † to theoria and to divine ascents! Then—oh, then!—we shall fully realize what a great work it is to compel ourselves in everything and that our superiors did well to push us and grieve us, for we shall say, “Behold what we see now!” Then our thanks to God will have no limits. Then we shall really render thanks worthily to God!

† Theoria
Theoria is the “vision of the spirit” or “a non-sensible revelation of the
nous” (St. Isaac the Syrian) through which one attains spiritual
knowledge. That is, through theoria, the Holy Spirit grants one understanding
of the mysteries of God and creation which are hidden to the rational human
intellect. Knowledge stemming from theoria is revelation from above. Theoria
is not intellectual work, but an operation of the Holy Spirit which opens the
eyes of the soul to behold mysteries. The Church Fathers often contrast it
with praxis which is an indispensable prerequisite of theoria. In the first
stage of theoria, the prayer is said without distraction and with a sense of
the presence of God with love, peace, mourning, etc. In the next stage, the
nous proceeds to feel what Adam felt in Paradise before the Fall, and it sees
spiritually how all nature glorifies God. Furthermore, it sees His omnipotence,
omniscience, and providence therein. St. Maximos the Confessor calls this
perceiving the inner essences or principles of created beings (Philokalia,
vol. II, p. 69). In the final stage of theoria, one beholds God Himself in
uncreated light. (Evagrios the Solitary, On Prayer, Philokalia, vol. I,

يحاول الله بكل الوسائل أن يوقظنا






كم هو وقت هذه الحياة ثمين! كل دقيقة لها قيمة كبيرة ، ففي غضون دقيقة واحدة يمكننا أن نفكر في أشياء كثيرة ، سواء كانت جيدة أو شريرة. فكرة إلهية واحدة ترفعنا إلى الجنة ، وفكرة شيطانية واحدة تنزل بنا إلى الجحيم.

إذن ، انظر كم هي قيمة كل دقيقة في هذه الحياة الحالية. لكن للأسف ، لا نفكر في هذا الأمر ، والساعات والأيام والسنوات تمر بلا ربح - ولكن هل هي مجرد بلا ربح؟ ما مقدار الضرر الذي عانينا منه جميعًا - وأنا أولاً - دون أن ندرك ذلك!

† الثيوريا الثيوريا هي "رؤية الروح" أو "الوحي غير المعقول لل نوس "(القديس إسحق السرياني) الذي من خلاله يبلغ المرء الروحاني المعرفه. أي من خلال الثاوريا ، يمنح الروح القدس فهماً واحداً من أسرار الله والخليقة المخفية عن الإنسان العقلاني العقل. المعرفة النابعة من الثيوريا وحي من فوق. الثيوريا ليس عملاً فكريًا ، ولكنه عمل من الروح القدس يفتح عيون الروح لمشاهدة الألغاز. غالبًا ما يقابلها آباء الكنيسة مع التطبيق العملي الذي هو شرط لا غنى عنه للثيوريا. في الاول مرحلة الثاوريا ، تقال الصلاة دون إلهاء وبإحساس حضور الله بالحب والسلام والنحيب ، إلخ. في المرحلة التالية ، فإن يبدأ النوس في الشعور بما شعر به آدم في الجنة قبل السقوط ، ويرى روحيا كيف تمجد كل الطبيعة الله. علاوة على ذلك ، يرى قدرته المطلقة ، كلي العلم ، والعناية الإلهية فيه. القديس مكسيموس المعترف يسمي هذا إدراك الجواهر أو المبادئ الداخلية للكائنات المخلوقة (فيلوكاليا ، المجلد. الثاني ، ص. 69). في المرحلة الأخيرة من الثاوريا ، يرى المرء الله نفسه فيه ضوء غير مخلوق.
