In the blessed countryside of Greece, the priests have the custom of liturgising every day during Renewal Week in every one of the country chapels attached to their Parish, so that the victory song of the Resurrection can be heard further out from the town. And many are they that go out to the countryside for those Resurrectional Liturgies. They remind us of Papadiamantis, combining the joy of Paschal worship with the joy of nature in Spring. On the Holy Mountain (Mt. Athos) the monks celebrate litanies from the monasteries to various “Kathismata” and in the gardens, where we usually find a small chapel and where an Agiasmos is celebrated. This brings the joy of the Resurrection to the plants and trees, which supply various fruits throughout the year for the monks’ austere table.

The novice monks learn the art of bell ringing during Renewal Week. It is a great pleasure to hear the bells pealing joyfully every day, all day, throughout Mt. Athos. Even the elderly Fathers sometimes during the Services, exit the church, take up hand-held wooden semantra and walk around the church hitting them rhythmically, so as to emphasise their enthusiasm about the definite and irrevocable condemnation of death, for the ever mortification of Hades, and for the eternal victory of Life….

ستظل أم يسوع هي الأم المثالية لكل الأجيال ولكل الأجناس، حيث ضربت أروع الأمثلة في الحب والوفاء، الثبات والعطاء، لابنها الغالي يسوع، بالرغم من تخاذل محبيه وتلاميذه، وأصرت أن تكون قريبة منه في أحلك وأشد اللحظات. لقد تألمت ألامات متنوعة كثيرة:

* فهي تألمت حين خان يهوذا، وأنكر بطرس، وهرب التلاميذ.

* وتألمت حينما قبضوا عليه في البستان وأوثقوه ومضوا به إلى ست محاكمات: ثلاث محاكمات دينية ليلاً (أمام حنان، ثم قيافا، ثم مجمع السنهدريم)، وثلاث أخرى مدنية نهارًا (أمام بيلاطس، ثم هيرودس، ثم بيلاطس ثانية).

* تألمت من الاتهامات الباطلة التي قُدِّمت ضده،
مثل أنه: يُفسد الأمة، يمنع أن تُعطى الجزية لقيصر،
يُهيج الشعب (لوقاظ¢ظ£: ظ¢، ظ¥)،
فاعل شر (يوحناظ،ظ¨: ظ£ظ*).

* تألمت من الجحود ومن نكران الجميل،
فالمسيح صنع للشعب آلاف المعجزات،
لكن عندما أجرى بيلاطس استفتاءً:
«مَنْ تُرِيدُونَ أَنْ أُطْلِقَ لَكُمْ؟ بَارَابَاسَ أَمْ يَسُوعَ الَّذِي يُدْعَى الْمَسِيحَ؟
فَقَالُوا: “بَارَابَاسَ!”. قَالَ لَهُمْ بِيلاَطُسُ: “فَمَاذَا أَفْعَلُ بِيَسُوعَ
الَّذِي يُدْعَى الْمَسِيحَ؟” قَالَ لَهُ الْجَمِيعُ: “لِيُصْلَبْ!”» (متىظ¢ظ§: ظ،ظ§–ظ¢ظ¢).
فيا للغرابة! القاتل واللص يُطلق حرًا، والقدوس البار يُصلب،
لم تكن هناك رقة بل قسوة، لم يكن هناك معزين بل مستهزئين.

* تألمت عندما أمر بيلاطس بصلبه،
فالصليب يُعتبر من أقسى الأساليب
في معاقبة المجرمين.

* تألمت عندما جمعوا عليه كل الكتيبة،
وتبادلوا عليه الضرب، ونتف الوجه،
واللكم والبصق.

* تألمت أثناء جلده بجلدات قاسية
مزقت ظهره العاري، حتى صار مثل
التربة التي حُرثت بالمحراث (مزظ،ظ¢ظ©: ظ£).

* تألمت وهي تراه يحمل الصليب
في طريقهُ إلى الجلجثة،
والشوك على رأسه.

* تألمت حين رأتهم يدقون المسامير في يديه
ورجليه، وتتمزق شرايينه وتنزف بغزارة.
* تألمت وهي تراه معلقًا بين اثنين من المذنبين.
