1 يا رب، ما أكثر مضايقي! كثيرون قائمون علي.

1 Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.


2 كثيرون يقولون لنفسي: «ليس له خلاص بإلهه». سلاه.


2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.


3 أما أنت يا رب فترس لي. مجدي ورافع رأسي.


3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.for: or, about


4 بصوتي إلى الرب أصرخ، فيجيبني من جبل قدسه. سلاه.

المزمور الرابع – مزمور 4 – Psalm 4 – عربي إنجليزي

1 عند دعائي استجب لي يا إله بري. في الضيق رحبت لي. تراءف علي واسمع صلاتي.


1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me whenI was in distress; have mercy upon me, and he ar my prayer.


2 يا بني البشر، حتى متى يكون مجدي عارا؟ حتى متى تحبون الباطل وتبتغون الكذب؟ سلاه.


2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.


3 فاعلموا أن الرب قد ميز تقيه. الرب يسمع عند ما أدعوه.


3 But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him.


4 ارتعدوا ولا تخطئوا. تكلموا في قلوبكم على مضاجعكم واسكتوا. سلاه.


4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.






5 اذبحوا ذبائح البر، وتوكلوا على الرب.


5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.

6 There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

المزمور الخامس – مزمور 5 – Psalm 5 – عربي إنجليزي

1 لكلِماتي أصغِ يا رَبُّ. تأمَّلْ صُراخي.


1 Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.


2 استَمِعْ لصوتِ دُعائي يا مَلِكي وإلهي، لأنّي إلَيكَ أُصَلّي.


2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.


3 يا رَبُّ، بالغَداةِ تسمَعُ صوتي. بالغَداةِ أوَجِّهُ صَلاتي نَحوك وأنتَظِرُ.


3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.


4 لأنَّكَ أنتَ لَستَ إلهًا يُسَرُّ بالشَّرِّ، لا يُساكِنُكَ الشِّرّيرُ.


4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.






6 تُهلِكُ المُتَكلِّمينَ بالكَذِبِ. رَجُلُ الدِّماءِ والغِشِّ يَكرَهُهُ الرَّبُّ.


6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.


7 أمّا أنا فبكَثرَةِ رَحمَتِكَ أدخُلُ بَيتَكَ. أسجُدُ في هَيكلِ قُدسِكَ بخَوْفِكَ.


7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.


8 يا رَبُّ، اهدِني إلَى برِّكَ بسَبَبِ أعدائي. سهِّلْ قُدّامي طريقَكَ.


8 Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

10 دِنهُمْ يا اللهُ! ليَسقُطوا مِنْ مؤامَراتِهِمْ. بكَثرَةِ ذُنوبهِمْ طَوِّحْ بهِمْ، لأنَّهُمْ تمَرَّدوا علَيكَ.


10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.


11 ويَفرَحُ جميعُ المُتَّكِلينَ علَيكَ. إلَى الأبدِ يَهتِفونَ، وتُظَلِّلُهُمْ. ويَبتَهِجُ بكَ مُحِبّو اسمِكَ.


11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee

المزمور السادس – مزمور 6 – Psalm 6 – عربي إنجليزي










1 يا رَبُّ، لا توَبِّخني بغَضَبِكَ، ولا تؤَدِّبني بغَيظِكَ.


1 O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.


2 ارحَمني يا رَبُّ لأنّي ضَعيفٌ. اشفِني يا رَبُّ لأنَّ عِظامي قد رَجَفَتْ،


2 Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.


3 ونَفسي قد ارتاعَتْ جِدًّا. وأنتَ يا رَبُّ، فحتَّى مَتَى؟


3 My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?


4 عُدْ يا رَبُّ. نَجِّ نَفسي. خَلِّصني مِنْ أجلِ رَحمَتِكَ.


4 Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake.


5 لأنَّهُ ليس في الموتِ ذِكرُكَ. في الهاويَةِ مَنْ يَحمَدُكَ؟

6 تعِبتُ في تنَهُّدي. أُعَوِّمُ في كُلِّ ليلَةٍ سريري بدُموعي. أُذَوِّبُ فِراشي.


6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.


7 ساخَتْ مِنَ الغَمِّ عَيني. شاخَتْ مِنْ كُلِّ مُضايِقيَّ.


7 Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.


8 اُبعُدوا عَنّي يا جميعَ فاعِلي الإثمِ، لأنَّ الرَّبَّ قد سمِعَ صوتَ بُكائي.


8 Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.


9 سمِعَ الرَّبُّ تضَرُّعي. الرَّبُّ يَقبَلُ صَلاتي.


9 The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.


10 جميعُ أعدائي يُخزَوْنَ ويَرتاعونَ جِدًّا. يَعودونَ ويُخزَوْنَ بَغتَةً.


10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

المزمور السابع – مزمور 7 – Psalm 7 – عربي إنجليزي

1 يا رَبُّ إلهي، علَيكَ توَكَّلتُ. خَلِّصني مِنْ كُلِّ الّذينَ يَطرُدونَني ونَجِّني،


1O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:words: or, business


2 لئَلّا يَفتَرِسَ كأسَدٍ نَفسي هاشِمًا إيّاها ولا مُنقِذَ.


2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.


3 يا رَبُّ إلهي، إنْ كُنتُ قد فعَلتُ هذا. إنْ وُجِدَ ظُلمٌ في يَدَيَّ.


3 O Lord my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;


4 إنْ كافأتُ مُسالِمي شَرًّا، وسَلَبتُ مُضايِقي بلا سبَبٍ،


4 If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy


5 فليُطارِدْ عَدوٌّ نَفسي وليُدرِكها، وليَدُسْ إلَى الأرضِ حَياتي، وليَحُطَّ إلَى التُّرابِ مَجدي. سِلاهْ.


5 Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.





6 قُمْ يا رَبُّ بغَضَبِكَ. ارتَفِعْ علَى سخَطِ مُضايِقيَّ وانتَبِهْ لي. بالحَقِّ أوصَيتَ.


6 Arise, O Lord, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.


7 ومَجمَعُ القَبائلِ يُحيطُ بكَ، فعُدْ فوقَها إلَى العُلَى.


7 So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.


8 الرَّبُّ يَدينُ الشُّعوبَ. اقضِ لي يا رَبُّ كحَقّي ومِثلَ كمالي الّذي فيَّ.


8 The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.


9 ليَنتَهِ شَرُّ الأشرارِ وثَبِّتِ الصِّدّيقَ. فإنَّ فاحِصَ القُلوبِ والكُلَى اللهُ البارُّ.


9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.


10 تُرسي عِندَ اللهِ مُخَلِّصِ مُستَقيمي القُلوبِ.


10My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.


11 اللهُ قاضٍ عادِلٌ، وإلهٌ يَسخَطُ في كُلِّ يومٍ.


11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.


12 إنْ لَمْ يَرجِعْ يُحَدِّدْ سيفَهُ. مَدَّ قَوْسَهُ وهَيّأها،


12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.


13 وسَدَّدَ نَحوَهُ آلةَ الموتِ. يَجعَلُ سِهامَهُ مُلتَهِبَةً.


13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.


14 هوذا يَمخَضُ بالإثمِ. حَمَلَ تعَبًا وولَدَ كذِبًا.


14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.


15 كرا جُبًّا. حَفَرَهُ، فسقَطَ في الهوَّةِ الّتي صَنَعَ.


15 He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.He made a pit: Heb. He hath digged a pit


16 يَرجِعُ تعَبُهُ علَى رأسِهِ، وعلَى هامَتِهِ يَهبِطُ ظُلمُهُ.


16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.


17 أحمَدُ الرَّبَّ حَسَبَ برِّهِ، وأُرَنِّمُ لاسمِ الرَّبِّ العَليِّ.


17 I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.

المزمور الثامن – مزمور 8 – Psalm 8 – عربي إنجليزي

مزمور 8 : 1 – 9
1 أيُّها الرَّبُّ سيِّدُنا، ما أمجَدَ اسمَكَ في كُلِّ الأرضِ! حَيثُ جَعَلتَ جَلالكَ فوقَ السماواتِ.


1 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.


2 مِنْ أفواهِ الأطفالِ والرُّضَّعِ أسَّستَ حَمدًا بسَبَبِ أضدادِكَ، لتَسكيتِ عَدوٍّ ومُنتَقِمٍ.


2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.


3 إذا أرَى سماواتِكَ عَمَلَ أصابِعِكَ، القَمَرَ والنُّجومَ الّتي كوَّنتَها،


3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;


4 فمَنْ هو الإنسانُ حتَّى تذكُرَهُ؟ وابنُ آدَمَ حتَّى تفتَقِدَهُ؟


4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?


5 وتَنقُصَهُ قَليلًا عن المَلائكَةِ، وبمَجدٍ وبَهاءٍ تُكلِّلُهُ.


5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.






6 تُسَلِّطُهُ علَى أعمالِ يَدَيكَ. جَعَلتَ كُلَّ شَيءٍ تحتَ قَدَمَيهِ:


6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:


7 الغَنَمَ والبَقَرَ جميعًا، وبَهائمَ البَرِّ أيضًا،


7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;


8 وطُيورَ السماءِ، وسَمَكَ البحرِ السّالِكَ في سُبُلِ المياهِ.


8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.


9 أيُّها الرَّبُّ سيِّدُنا، ما أمجَدَ اسمَكَ في كُلِّ الأرضِ!


9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

من هو متى في الكتاب المقدس؟


الجواب: كان متى في الكتاب المقدس واحد من تلاميذ المسيح. إن إنجيل متى، وأيضاً أناجيل لوقا ويوحنا ومرقس، موحى به من الله – وبالتالي فهو يقدم تاريخ صحيح ودقيق عن حياة المسيح. إنجيل متى هو أطول الأناجيل الأربعة ويعتقد بعض الباحثين أنه كتب قبل الأناجيل الأخرى.

كان متى "جابي ضرائب" في مدينة كفرناحوم قبل أن يصبح تلميذاً للمسيح (متى 9: 9؛ 10: 3). كما يدعوه لوقا ومرقس بإسم لاوي إبن حلفي (مرقس 2: 14؛ لوقا 5: 27). ورغم أن لوقا ومرقس لا يقولان صراحة أن "لاوي ومتى هما نفس الشخص"، إلا أننا يمكن نستنبط من سياق النص أن الإسمين يشيران إلى نفس الشخص. فرواية متى عن دعوة المسيح له تتفق تماماً مع ما يقوله لوقا ومرقس عن دعوة لاوي من جهة الوصف والترتيب الزمني. كذلك ليس من غير المألوف أن يُمنح الشخص إسماً جديداً بعد مقابلته مع الله. فقد صار أبرام إبراهيم، ويعقوب إسرائيل، وسمعان بطرس، وشاول بولس. فمن المرجح أن متى (بمعنى "عطية الله") هو الإسم الذي إعطاه المسيح للاوي عند تجديده.

كان جامعي الضرائب مكروهين كلية في ثقافتهم لأنهم كانوا يعملون لصالح الحكومة الرومانية وقد كونوا ثرواتهم بجمع الضرائب من شعبهم – وكانوا كثيراً ما يجمعون مبالغ طائلة بغير حق (أنظر لوقا 19: 8). من المرجح أن متى كان ميسور الحال حيث يذكر لوقا أن لاوي عمل "ضِيَافَةً كَبِيرَةً فِي بَيْتِهِ" للمسيح، "وَالَّذِينَ كَانُوا مُتَّكِئِينَ مَعَهُمْ كَانُوا جَمْعاً كَثِيراً" (لوقا 5: 29).

Who was Matthew in the Bible

Answer: Matthew in the Bible was one of Jesus’ disciples. Matthew’s Gospel, along with the Gospels of Luke, John, and Mark, is an inspired—and thus accurate and true—history of the life of Christ. His Gospel is the longest of the four, and some scholars believe it was the first to be written.

Before Matthew became a disciple of Christ, he was a tax collector or “publican” in the town of Capernaum (Matthew 9:9; 10:3). Matthew is also called Levi, the son of Alphaeus, by Luke and Mark (Mark 2:14; Luke 5:27). Although Luke and Mark do not come out and say, “Levi and Matthew are the same person,” we can deduce the names refer to the same individual because of context. Matthew’s account of his call matches exactly the accounts of Levi’s call in Luke and Mark, both in terms of language and chronological placement. Also, it is not uncommon for a person to be given a different name after an encounter with God. Abram became Abraham, Jacob became Israel, Simon became Peter, and Saul became Paul. It is likely that Matthew (meaning “gift of God”) was the name Jesus gave to Levi after his conversion.

Tax collectors were absolutely despised by their own culture because they worked for the Roman government and enriched themselves by collecting taxes from their own people—often dishonestly collecting excessive amounts (see Luke 19:8). It is likely that Matthew was well-to-do, since Luke says that Levi hosted “a great banquet for Jesus” with “a large crowd” in attendance (Luke 5:29).

Tax collectors such as Matthew were seen by the religious elite as very sinful people, so sinful that even spending time with them could immediately tarnish a good person’s reputation (Matthew 9:10–11). When Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, with many other tax collectors and sinners present, the Pharisees questioned the disciples about Jesus’ choice of companions. Jesus’ response is one of the clearest explanations of God’s heart and His gospel to man: “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. . . . I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners” (Matthew 9:12–13). Jesus came to save not the “good,” self-righteous people, but those who knew they were not good—the people who admitted freely that they needed salvation (cf. Matthew 5:3).

It is impossible to save a person who claims not to need saving. Many of Jesus’ followers were from the poor, the rejected, the sick, the sinful, the weary (Matthew 11:28). He never condemned those people; He forgave them and encouraged them. Jesus’ harshest condemnations were to the Pharisees, the teachers of the Law, and the scribes who thought themselves good, worthy, and better than the “tax collectors and sinners” around them (Matthew 9:10; 23:13–15).

Matthew was one of the tax collectors whom Jesus saved. When called by Jesus, Matthew immediately left his tax collection booth and followed the Lord (Matthew 9:9). He left behind the source of his riches; he left his position of security and comfort for traveling, hardship, and eventual martyrdom; he left his old life for a new life with Jesus.
