Forgive and Forget God's forgiveness in fact is not conditioned upon your forgiving your fellows, but in experience it is exactly so conditioned. ~ Urantia Book, (146:2.4) "Your inability or unwillingness to forgive your fellows is the measure of your immaturity, your failure to attain adult sympathy, understanding, and love. You hold grudges and nurse vengefulness in direct proportion to your ignorance of the inner nature and true longings of your children and your fellow beings. Love is the outworking of the divine and inner urge of life. It is founded on understanding, nurtured by unselfish service, and perfected in wisdom." ~ Urantia Book, (174:1.5) And when he said, "Resist not evil," he later explained that he did not mean to condone sin or to counsel fraternity with iniquity. He intended the more to teach forgiveness, to "resist not evil treatment of one's personality, evil injury to one's feelings of personal dignity." ~ Urantia Book, (141:3.8) "How can you come to God asking consideration for your shortcomings when you are wont to chastise your brethren for being guilty of these same human frailties?" ~ Urantia Book, (159:1.5) "When a wise man understands the inner impulses of his fellows, he will love them. And when you love your brother, you have already forgiven him. If you are wise parents, this is the way you will love and understand your children, even forgive them when transient misunderstanding has apparently separated you." ~ Urantia Book, (174:1.4) |
