By H.H. Pope Shenouda III The believer is a strong person believing in the power of God working in him. Paul said, "To this end I also labour, striving according to His working which works in me mightily." (Col. 1:29) and he says about God "To Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us." (Eph. 3:20). It is faith in the unseen power of God that prompted Saint Paul to claim confidently, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Phil. 4:13). We ask ourselves: is this phrase only applies to Saints like Paul? The Lord answers "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." (Mark 9:23). Perhaps this power is a test for our spiritual lives. Are we in faith? Is it a power we are glad of and live in serenity with? In the church, we rejoice in the many unseen things. |
