Yes, the Lord gave me a good talking to this morning.. as usual. lol It seems to be the pattern this week. It's so much more exciting to meditate on singing songs (Psalm 101:1) than to delve into the hidden sin in my heart, but I shall not complain.
I will search for faithful people to be my companions. Only those who are above reproach will be allowed to serve me. Psalm 101:6
The Lord pointed out to me that he wants me to be one of the FAITHFUL in the land. He wants me to be an ....
AMAN: to confirm, support
Original Word: אָמַן
foster-mother, supporter of the body,
pillar, reliable, dependable, trustworthy
Has he called you to be a 'mom' or 'dad' too? To some friend nearby? He certainly has asked ALL of us to be pillars, reliable, dependable, and trustworthy. No question about that. And in time a spiritual leader too.
Once I was that, but in some ways I have always struggled to be reliable. It seems so hard to keep my word. To be diligent and faithful. I want to be someone you can count on. Someone who will always keep their word.
Why do I struggle with this? I think because I made too many promises and couldn't keep them all. I know the root of that--wanting praise. Receiving thanks for promised favors not fulfilled is cheating. I have always known that of course, but he brought it to bear on me this morning.
I was also reading in Numbers 9 and oh how this pricked my conscience! God cares about us doing things in the right way, on the right day, at the right time. (I'm so bad about that but I am repenting today.)
13 But anyone who is able must celebrate Passover at the right time. If they are clean and they are not away on a trip, there is no excuse for them not to do it. If they don’t celebrate Passover at the right time, they must be separated from their people. They are guilty and must be punished, because they did not give the Lord his gift at the right time. Number 9:13 ERV
Today will be a day of keeping promises...nd I must say it's easier when the Lord is strengthening you. He reminded me this morning that he...
honors those who fear the LORD; who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
I can't write more now, but I came across this prayer in my daily reading on the Bible Reading plan I have posted on the sidebar. It was a prayer by Paul for the his readers in the new and growing church and for us too.
Because it's how I feel about you, whoever you are who might be reading, and it certainly is how I feel about my good friend, Nate, who has been my fellow laborer in the trenches this year, I thought I'd share it this morning.
I have much work to do ... sewing and a birthday party, and picking up a car for Hubby.. all promises to keep. So here's my prayer for you..
Since the day I heard about you, I have not stopped praying for you.
I continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,
So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way:
Bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,
and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified youf to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Though today will be quite busy... I'll be praying for you, dear friends.
Love in Christ
