They slept because their eyes were heavy

God’s message to us today: watch.. watch.. watch with me at least for an hour !!!
" Then He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and said to Peter: "What? Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Again, a second time, He went away and prayed… And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time… " (Matthew 26 : 40 – 44).
This incident took place in Gethsemane garden immediately before the Lord was delivered to be crucified. The lord spent around 3 years and a half with His disciples, to prepare them and train them and reveal to them the things of the kingdom, the things of Satan and the spiritual warfare, to tell them about His death and resurrection, and the mission they have to fulfill, and they witnessed His miracles.. and many other important things.. and in the crucial moments immediately before His death.. The disciples asleep.. and the Lord wants them to watch with Him, at least for an hour.. And He warned them that if they don’t watch and pray they might enter into temptation.. Then He goes to pray again and returns back to them, and finds them asleep again.. And the reason is one: their eyes were heavy.. The fleshly heaviness doesn’t matter.. what matters is the spiritual heaviness on their eyes..
They didn’t know what was going on around them because of the heaviness of their eyes.. so they fell into temptation.. Peter denied the Lord.. and the rest left the Lord and ran away.. And many years have passed by.. and many years will go by before the Lord returns back.. and the Lord will always ask His people to watch with Him: " And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! " (Mark 13 : 37).
The call is for all.. it is not exclusive to anyone.. not to a time that has passed by. And God’s people today are like the disciples: they don’t respond.. they sleep.. because their eyes are heavy.
Why watching with the Lord?
" Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into " (Matthew 24 : 42 – 43).
I believe that the Lord’s words here are of a high importance for these days, and let me paraphrase these verses to you, so you can understand God’s point from them: If we watch we will know 2 important things:
1- The time of the Lord’s visitation to us.
2- The time when the thief.. which means Satan.. will come.
And if we know things before they happen, we will be ready to face them and take advantage from them.

We take advantage of God’s visitations to us, of sitting with Him, and delighting in Him, and from listening to His directions and revelations.
This doesn’t deny the importance of our daily quiet time with Him, but I am talking about special unique time with the Lord, and he who has experienced the quality and the pleasure of sitting with the Lord when the Holy Spirit will urge him to sit with the Lord at certain times will understand the meaning of these words.
Also we will take advantage by knowing ahead of time when the thief is coming, we will prepare ourselves and wait for him, so when he comes we won’t be surprised, but we would see him coming from far away, and we would be able to catch him and forbid him from stealing us, we will destroy his plan and vanish him.
Beloveds: whether we want it or not, as God’s children, the army of the kingdom, we are in war against Satan and his kingdom, we are called to fight, not only to protect ourselves, our mission is bigger, deeper and wider than this, it is the battle of spreading the kingdom, the battle of breaking through and destroying the gates of hell and delivering the souls from it, and instead of entering our rooms to sleep because our eyes are heavy, we are called to make the kingdom of God invade all the earth, all our communities and countries, but we should know like expert warriors that with each great step for the kingdom, we will face a violent resistance from the enemy, for this reason we should watch and observe with the Lord, we should observe what would invade our lives, our families life, our cities life, our country’s live, because without watching, the enemy will invade our land while we’re sleeping, look what the Lord has said about this: " Another parable He put forth to them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way ". (Matthew 13 : 24 – 25).
Asleep.. heavy eyes.. the enemy is invading our land, mixing the good seed with the fake, bad, harmful seed.. God’s word also says:
" Behold, it is Solomon ’s couch, With sixty valiant men around it, Of the valiant of Israel. They all hold swords, Being expert in war. Every man has his sword on his thigh Because of fear in the night " (Song of Solomon 3 : 7 – 8).
Watching, holding their swords on their thighes, expert in war, aware of the fear of the night.. such kind of people, such kind of believers, the enemy can not enter their houses, nor their fields, nor their cities nor their country.
When we watch and observe, this means we are in a critical warning phase, we can protect our land, and be ready for anything that might come our way, and be ready to move quickly when the Lord commands us to. The watcher has a specific mission from the Lord, and he has the load to ask God for commands and directions minute by minute, the watcher is called to know how to guarantee and fulfill God’s goals on this land. We should be like watchers who watch in the watch towers, to observe the enemy’s moves, so they can warn the people and face the enemy’s plan, like God’s word says.
And there is another mission that surpasses the area of watching and observing for our own sake, the Lord said to the prophet Ezekiel:
" So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me. When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you shall surely die!’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand… Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel? " (Ezekiel 33 : 7 – 11).

The Lord made Ezekiel a watchman for the people, to watch with the Lord, and hear His word, to see the sword and the danger coming before they reach the people, so he can warn and protect the people, for the Lord is always faithful and loving, He wants us all to be saved, He doesn’t want anyone to perish, and He says that He is not pleased by the death of the wicked one but by his repentance.. but it is our mission.. and the Lord gave responsibility to the prophet Ezekiel.
This was in the Old Testament.. so what about the New Testament?
It matches 100%, look at what the apostle Paul said: " Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock… Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears ".
(Acts 20 : 26 – 31).
Another overseer.. another watchman watching with the Lord to tell his people the purposes of God, and he boldly say to them: I am innocent of your blood, because de fulfilled his duty he oversaw and watched over them, and he is warning them that the savage wolves will try to take the flock after his departure, which means when there is no overseer nor a watchman, that’s why he asked them to do like him, to watch and oversee so they can protect the church of the Lord.. notice with me the authenticity of the inspiration here:
His church which He purchased with His blood..
to make them understand that those who need watchmen over them to protect them and warn them.. are people for whom the Lord paid His precious blood as price to purchase them from the kingdom of darkness, so don’t let this kingdom harm them..
How big and fragile is the mission the Lord laid on us, and how much we should cry out to Him to help us and equip us to become watchmen and overseers who watch with Him, and oversee the moves of the enemy, and protect the flock and our country, fulfilling our role with faithfulness. Without continuous watching and overseeing, we will miss the time of visitations of the Lord to us to our ministries and to our country, for the Lord said to Jerusalem: " For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation " (Luke 19 : 43 – 44).
This actually took place year 70 when the roman leader Titus surrounded it and destroyed it, because it didn’t know the time of its visitation..
The overseers and the watchmen.. didn’t do their roles.. they slept.. for their eyes were heavy.. they couldn’t discern the times and the season of visitation, the overseers and the watchmen didn’t see the enemies coming from far away so they didn’t shout to the people to warn them so they can prepare themselves, they were sleeping.. so the enemy reached them and surrounded them from every side, and destroyed the city, they didn’t leave a stone upon another..
The Lord said to His disciples: " … Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near… Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth " (Luke 21 : 29 – 35).
All the prophets, the apostles, the teachers, the pastors and the preachers around the world say that these days are special days of visitation from the Lord to His people for a great revival invading the world, and in the same time it is a time for an aggressive encounter with the enemy who will try to stop this work.. and this is what the word of God which we’ve read here conclude, to watch and oversee carefully, to know the hour of the Lord’s visitation, to know the hour of the coming of the devil the thief, only then we will not miss the revival of the Lord and Satan won’t be able to stop it.. The fig tree and all the trees have budding.. the summer is near.. and God’s word says: Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of the life.. yes this is what is keeping us from watching with the Lord and overseeing to do our role, the cares of the life, our personal carousing.. the Lord is not number one in our life, the hand is not on the ploy… so let’s watch out..
Beloveds: at certain times the Lord might call us not only to watch, but also not to sleep at all day and night.. And the Bible mentioned some similar cases: In Genesis 14, Abraham and his men walked all night and fought all day, they didn’t not only bring back Lot, but all those who were captives with many treasures. In Joshua 10, the people of God walked all night and fought all day, they saved the Gibeonites, Joshua ordered the sun not to go down until they have full victory. In 1 Samuel 30, David and his men walked all night and fought all day the Amalekites who burned Ziklag and took the women and the children into captivity, so they took back everything with many treasures. And the last example is the Lord, He was praying all night, then fight all day to win back His children from the enemy’s hand..
This plan catches Satan without him knowing, with a strategy and a plan that are beyond his understanding.
The Lord says to us:
Be on your spots at night, so you can fight during the day.
Is it hard?
Yes.. I will not tell you that this is easy, it is impossible to be done if you’re going to do it with your own might..
But when we know our mission, and decide to do our role with faithfulness, asking God to give us power, then He will surely do so, and our eyes won’t be heavy anymore.. for those who wait upon the Lord, the watchmen who are watching with Him, the ready observers, they will renew power, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow tired, they will walk and not grow weary. This kind of revival to spread the kingdom.. this kind of aggressive war, can not be fulfilled without doing the things we’ve mentioned in this letter.
God’s servant “ Candy Mc Calpin” says that she has heard the Lord saying to her in one of her quiet times with Him:
“give me back the night, it is mine” but she didn’t give importance to these words as she should have, but after almost a year while she was meditating on Psalm 74: 16 which says: " The day is Yours, the night also is Yours… ".
She repented for not giving the Lord’s word its worthy importance, and she continue saying: I can’t tell you of the experiences and the revelations the Lord had shown me, when I started to watch with Him, and to observe with Him.
Beloveds: let’s take back the night, because it is the Lord’s and not to the kingdom of darkness, let’s watch with Him in the night, let’s walk in the night and fight in the day to defeat the enemy, and take back the souls and the captives, and steal many treasures. Let’s be faithful observers and watchers, to protect ourselves, our families, our churches, our cities and our country…
Let’s watch, to welcome the Lord when He visits us, to reveal the plans of the enemy and destroy them. At the end: " Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong " (1 Corinthians 16 : 13).
And hear with me the Lord saying to Satan and his army and to the gates of hell:
Beware!.. My people.. is watching with Me.. My people will walk all the night and fight all the day.. who can stand against them !!!
