القديسة كيريلا/8 حزيران

وُلدت في ليبيا.
ولما كبرت قبض عليها الوثنيون.
وإذ أبت أن تقدّم بخّوراً للأصنام وضعوا في يديها جمراً
وبخوراً حتى إذا حرّكت يديها تُحسَب أنّها قدّمت بخّوراً.
أمّا هي فلبثت صابرة تتحمّل حريق النار
ولم تحرّك يديها أصلاً، حينئذ وثب عليها الوثنيون
يضربونها بقساوة بربريّة حتّى تمزَّق جسدها
فنالت إكليل الشهادة سنة ٣١٠.

She was born in Libya.
When she grew up, pagans seized her.
When she refused to offer incense to the idols, they placed burning coals and incense in her hands so that when she moved her hands, it would be thought she had offered incense.
As for her, she endured the burning fire patiently, not even moving her hands. Then the pagans attacked her and beat her with barbaric cruelty until her body was torn apart. She received the crown of martyrdom in the year 310.
