1901 - ثيودور روزفلت يتولى رئاسة الولايات المتحدة خلفًا للرئيس ويليام مكينلي الذي توفي متأثرًا بجراحه بعد تعرضه لعملية اغتيال في 6 سبتمبر.
1960 - العراق وإيران والسعودية والكويت وفنزويلا يؤسسون منظمة الدول المصدرة للنفط / أوبك وذلك في اجتماعهم في بغداد.
1982 - اغتيال رئيس الجمهورية اللبنانية المنتخب بشير الجميّل وذلك قبل تسلمه لمهامه بأيام.
