يصوت أغلب سكان العالم في المدارس التي تعلن عنها الحكومات بتخصيصها لعملية الاقتراع، لكن هناك فئة قليلة سعيدة الحظ أدلوا بأصواتهم في أماكن غريبة، بل قاموا باصطحاب حيواناتهم الأليفة معهم للمشاركة في العملية الانتخابية.

كانت معظم مراكز الاقتراع غير التقليدية في أمريكا وبريطانيا؛ حيث أدلى مئات الأشخاص بأصواتهم في الحانات والملاعب الرياضية وحمامات السباحة وصالونات التجميل وطواحين الهواء والمغسلة، والمقاهى، والمطافئ، والسوبر ماركت والدبابات، والغرف الخارجية بالمنازل.
